Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of chores that come with gardening? Ever miss a planting window because you forgot? Are you a total beginner at gardening and don’t know where to begin? Well, let me introduce you to GardenBoost, an app for your smartphone that will simplify everything.

Some months ago I was contacted by a company who wanted to develop a vegetable gardening app based on my content. I agreed, and since then have been working to develop and train the app to be a total package when it comes to vegetable gardening. I’ve been training and testing it for about a month, simulating various conditions, garden types, and locations. I am extremely impressed with what it can do. Just a few examples:
- Customized planting dates/times based on what you want to grow, and your location
- Reminders of chores, planting/harvesting.
- Optimize your garden layout to maximize your yields based on photographs or sketches (this feature is really cool)
- Coach you on understanding your soil – texture, pH, drainage
- Help you get an efficient composting system
- Make suggestions for what to grow, suggest and show other strategies that you may not have considered
- Diagnose plant or pest problems via uploading pictures.
- Be your advisor you can chat that is in your pocket!
So, it’s like having me in your pocket, ready to answer any questions as well as keep your vegetable garden producing as much as possible. All the while keeping your compost system going so you can continually improve your soil. With this app, you won’t forget any chores, nor miss any planting windows.

But it can absolutely help you in planning the layout of your garden, building it, getting you started on composting correctly…it does just about everything.
This app is not free, as it takes computer power to do so much for you. However, it will become an indispensable companion and source of knowledge. The general design (which can be customized by your preferences) is to provide daily reminders for chores throughout the season (and winter), give lessons on concepts and species, and help you better manage your garden by reminding you of sowing/transplanting and harvest, completely based on what you tell it you are growing. Below is a link to the app – have a look, I bet you will love it.
