Halloween is over....what to do with your leftover Jack O'Lanterns??? Here's a super simple way to get some more mileage out of those pumpkins! This is a fun project to do with your kids. Depending on weather, you can get another week or two of use out of your pumpkins by turning them into bird feeders! In addition to being a fun project, it adds some new and unique Autumn decor to your yard! Use a knife to cut a circle around where the Jack O'Lantern's face was. This will create the opening for the birds to go in and get the bird food. Clean out any mess from inside the pumpkin using a spoon. Use twine to create a holder for the pumpkin. We used 3 pieces and knotted them at the top. Add bird food and hang from desired location. Enjoy! As you can see, I did have some help! This is a perfect activity to do with kids. It only takes a few minutes & it is very simple. For tying the ropes, an easy way to do that is to make three large loops of twine, individually tied. Then just place them around the bird feeder, evenly spaced on the sides. Finally, just take each loop by hand and tie them all into a knot, and voila! You now have a simple rope basket to hand your jack-o-lantern bird feeder! Other ways to create pumpkin bird feeders: With your pumpkins that are still whole, you can cut them in half and scoop out the insides. Then, use the bottom half as a bowl for a feeder.
